About The Position

Belmont Charter Network is seeking a Physics & Design Lab teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. The role involves planning, organizing, and implementing an instructional program to help students reach their academic potential, aligning with the mission and standards of Belmont Charter Network. Belmont Charter Network is a family of 5 community schools dedicated to the academic, social, and emotional well-being of each child, supported by a non-profit partner providing holistic services. They believe in joyful schools and education as a means to disrupt systemic racism. The organization has a 20+ year history in Philadelphia and utilizes a trauma-informed approach. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated skill in working with diverse student populations, creative problem-solving abilities, a commitment to lifelong learning and professional growth, and the ability to connect with parents, colleagues, and students across differences.

Requirements

  • B.A./B.S. degree from an accredited institution
  • 1-2 years of classroom experience, preferably in urban education
  • Valid and active Pennsylvania Instructional Certificate
  • Ability to provide a Pennsylvania State Police Criminal Background Check Clearance (Act 34), a Pennsylvania Child Abuse History Clearance (Act 151), a Federal Bureau of Investigation Record Check Clearance (Act 114), and a Sexual Misconduct/Abuse Disclosure Clearance (Act 168) before starting work on campus
  • Demonstrate preparation and skill in working with students from diverse cultural, economic, and ability backgrounds.
  • Encourage parent and community involvement, obtain information for parents when requested, promptly return phone calls, and answer emails.
  • Participate in appropriate professional activities.
  • Participate in extracurricular activities such as social activities, sporting activities, clubs and student organizations as directed.
  • Ability to work with students from diverse backgrounds and a variety of individualized needs.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement lesson plans that align with curriculum standards and educational goals.
  • Create a supportive and engaging classroom environment that promotes student learning and participation.
  • Assess student progress and provide feedback to students and parents/guardians.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to enhance curriculum and instructional methods.
  • Maintain accurate records of student attendance, grades, and performance.
  • Communicate effectively with students, parents/guardians, and school administrators.
  • Plan, prepare, and deliver lesson plans and instructional materials that facilitate active learning.
  • Execute school-wide duties in accordance with school rules and procedures, such as lunch, recess, hallway, or other duties in the school as assigned.
  • Instruct and monitor students in the use of learning materials and equipment.
  • Manage student behavior in the classroom by establishing and enforcing rules and procedures.
  • Participate in department, school, district, and parent meetings.
  • Other duties as assigned by the supervisor.
