About The Position

The High School Mathematics Teacher is responsible for creating a rigorous, engaging, and student-centered learning environment that promotes mathematical understanding, critical thinking, problem-solving, and real-world application. The teacher delivers standards-aligned instruction, monitors student progress, differentiates learning to meet diverse student needs, and collaborates with colleagues, families, and administrators to support student achievement and well-being. The successful candidate demonstrates a commitment to academic excellence, equity, innovation, and continuous professional growth while fostering positive relationships with students and the school community.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Mathematics, Mathematics Education, Secondary Education, or a closely related field.
Valid North Carolina state teaching certification/licensure in Secondary Mathematics or eligible for North Carolina teaching license.

Nice To Haves

Master's degree in Mathematics, Education, Curriculum and Instruction, or related field.
Experience teaching multiple levels of high school mathematics.
Experience using instructional technology and digital learning platforms.
Knowledge of differentiated instruction, Universal Design for Learning (UDL), and Multi-Tiered Systems of Support (MTSS).
Experience working with diverse student populations.

Responsibilities

Plan and deliver engaging, standards-based mathematics instruction aligned with district and state curriculum.
Teach assigned mathematics courses, which may include advanced mathematics courses.
Develop lessons that promote conceptual understanding, mathematical reasoning, and problem-solving.
Differentiate instruction to address varying learning styles, abilities, and student needs.
Utilize a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and evidence-based practices to increase student engagement and achievement.
Incorporate real-world applications and interdisciplinary connections into mathematics instruction.
Foster a classroom culture that encourages inquiry, collaboration, perseverance, and intellectual curiosity.
Design and administer formative and summative assessments to measure student learning.
Analyze assessment data to inform instruction and improve student outcomes.
Maintain accurate and timely records of student attendance, grades, and academic progress.
Provide meaningful, timely feedback to students.
Develop intervention and enrichment opportunities based on student performance.
Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, inclusive, and productive learning environment.
Implement effective classroom management strategies that promote student responsibility and positive behavior.
Maintain high expectations for student conduct and academic integrity.
Collaborate with teachers, instructional coaches, counselors, special education staff, and administrators to support student success.
Communicate regularly with parents and guardians regarding student progress and concerns.
Participate actively in Professional Learning Communities (PLCs), department meetings, faculty meetings, and school committees.
Support school initiatives and contribute to a positive school culture.
Maintain current knowledge of mathematics content, instructional best practices, and educational technology.
Participate in professional development activities and apply new learning to instructional practice.
Comply with all district policies, state regulations, and professional ethical standards.
Perform other duties as assigned by the Principal or designee.
