About The Position
The Cottonwood School offers dynamic homeschooling pathways for TK-12 with a personalized, whole-learner approach. The Cottonwood School is a tuition-free, public charter school serving transitional kindergarten through 12th-grade students in Alpine, Amador, El Dorado, Placer, and Sacramento Counties. Our Homestudy Pathway fosters holistic learning through various activities and events, while our Cottonwood College Prep Academy is a hybrid on-site High School Pathway offering Montessori-inspired project-based learning. We envision a world where students flourish, communities thrive, and staff are fulfilled. The CVA (Cottonwood Virtual Academy) High School Teacher serves a hybrid role within CVA High School. In the advisory capacity, this credentialed teacher manages a caseload of high school students as their primary academic partner, designing personalized four-year graduation plans, monitoring progress, and supporting students and families in navigating the CVA HS academy model. In the instructional capacity, this teacher may teach synchronous live classes, oversee asynchronous flex courses, or both, maintaining consistent pacing, feedback, and grading across their assigned courses. These responsibilities support CVA High School's blended model of live instruction, flex-paced coursework, and community-based learning. Seeking a high school teacher to teach online synchronous high school Math classes, asynchronous course support, grading, and advisory for CVA students.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree from an accredited institution
- Valid California Single Subject Math Credential
- EL Authorization
- Basic proficiency in Google Workspace (Docs, Sheets, Drive)
- Basic proficiency in virtual communication platforms (e.g., Zoom, Google Chat)
- AB 2534 Verification
- Background Clearance
- Tuberculosis Clearance (Risk Assessment or Skin Test)
- I-9 Verification (Appropriate US Work Permits as required)
- Complete Required Mandatory Trainings for School Employees
Nice To Haves
- Experience working at an independent study charter school
- Experience using educational technology platforms (e.g., LMS/SIS systems such as Pathways, Clever, or Google Classroom) to support instruction
- Experience providing instruction in a synchronous online setting
