About The Position

Prep Academy Tutors of Atlanta is seeking experienced high school teachers, certified educators, and highly qualified tutors to provide personalized, one-on-one Mathematics and Science tutoring to high school students throughout Atlanta and Fulton County, Georgia. Tutors will work directly with students in their homes, creating focused learning environments to help students ask questions, strengthen academic skills, build confidence, and make progress toward their educational goals. This role is ideal for current or former high school Mathematics and Science teachers, teacher candidates, education majors, graduate students, and experienced tutors who enjoy individualized tutoring outside of a traditional classroom setting. Prep Academy Tutors provides premium, individualized tutoring tailored to each student's needs, learning style, strengths, and areas for growth, focusing on helping students become more capable, confident, and independent learners.

Requirements

• A bachelor’s degree or higher, or be currently pursuing a relevant degree
• A valid Georgia teaching license/certificate or equivalent teaching credential, where applicable
• Demonstrated teaching, tutoring, classroom, or instructional experience
• Strong knowledge of at least one high school Mathematics or Science subject
• Experience working with high school students
• The ability to teach and explain challenging mathematical and scientific concepts clearly
• The ability to adapt instruction for different learning styles, abilities, and academic levels
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Patience, professionalism, reliability, and a student-centered approach
• Excellent organization and time-management skills
• Reliable transportation and the ability to travel to student homes
• Authorization to work in the United States
• Hold a valid Georgia teaching license/certificate or equivalent teaching credential
• Have current or recent experience as a certified high school Mathematics or Science teacher
• Have at least two years of teaching or tutoring experience with high school students
• Have experience teaching Mathematics or Science in a public, private, or charter school
• Have experience as a lecturer, course instructor, teaching assistant, or academic tutor at an accredited U.S. college or university
• Be a graduate or undergraduate student in an education-related, Mathematics, Science, or subject-specific program with relevant teaching, tutoring, or teaching-assistant experience

• Current or recent experience as a high school Mathematics or Science teacher
• A current Georgia teaching license or teaching credential
• Experience teaching in a public, private, or charter school
• Experience teaching high school Mathematics, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, or other core Science subjects
• Experience teaching Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, or other advanced Mathematics courses
• Experience teaching Honors, AP, advanced, or college-preparatory Mathematics or Science courses
• Experience preparing students for standardized tests such as the SAT or ACT
• Experience providing private tutoring or individualized academic instruction
• Experience supporting students with diverse academic and learning needs
• A master’s degree or higher
• Experience working with college-bound students
• Experience teaching advanced Mathematics, sciences, or other specialized subjects
• Qualified teacher candidates, education majors, graduate students, Mathematics or Science majors, and experienced tutors who have a strong academic background and experience working with high school students

Responsibilities

• Deliver engaging, one-on-one instruction to high school students in their homes
• Provide support in Mathematics and Science within your area of expertise
• Support students in courses such as Algebra, Geometry, Algebra II, Pre-Calculus, Calculus, Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and other high school Mathematics and Science courses
• Provide instruction and academic support for honors, AP, advanced, and college-preparatory Mathematics and Science courses where qualified
• Adapt lessons and instructional strategies to each student’s individual learning needs
• Reinforce classroom instruction and strengthen foundational Mathematics and Science skills
• Help students master challenging concepts and develop effective problem-solving, critical-thinking, and learning strategies
• Assist with homework, organization, study skills, and preparation for Mathematics and Science assessments
• Support students preparing for standardized tests and other academic assessments where appropriate
• Identify areas of academic difficulty and develop targeted strategies for improvement
• Establish positive, professional relationships with students and their families
• Monitor student progress and communicate meaningful observations and updates
• Encourage students to take ownership of their learning and develop greater academic confidence
• Maintain a professional, supportive, and productive in-home learning environment
• Travel to students’ homes throughout Atlanta and Fulton County, Georgia
