About The Position

The High School Leadership Manager collaborates with BGCP staff at the Forest and other sites serving high school students, including our East Palo Alto Clubhouse and school campus-based programs, and external partners to create and execute Character and Leadership Programs focused on creating leadership opportunities for high school students within the Redwood City Clubhouse (Forest High School Center) and the community.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s Degree from an accredited college or university, or equivalent experience
  • 2+ years working with high school aged youth
  • Commitment to BGCP’s mission and vision
  • Experience building relationships with diverse youth communities and constituents
  • Ability to motivate through positive reinforcement
  • Strong communication skills
  • Flexible in navigating a fast-paced environment

Nice To Haves

  • Spanish fluency is a plus

Responsibilities

  • Manage the day-to-day operations of the Teen Staff program, including onboarding, scheduling, timesheet support, training coordination, and ongoing supervision
  • Facilitate monthly professional development sessions for Teen Staff
  • Support Teen Staff in building workplace readiness, leadership, communication, and professional skills
  • Introduce teens to career exploration opportunities, internships, and workforce development experiences
  • Support Teen Staff participants in demonstrating growth in leadership, workplace readiness, and professional development skills
  • Lead the implementation of Character & Leadership Development programs and initiatives
  • Support and advise Keystone Leadership Officers and other teen leadership groups
  • Coordinate leadership activities including Youth of the Year, Torch Club, community service projects, and civic engagement initiatives
  • Develop culturally relevant programming and activities that support teen growth, identity development, and leadership skills
  • Plan and facilitate monthly workshops, panels, forums, and critical dialogue sessions focused on leadership, civic responsibility, workforce readiness, and social issues impacting youth
  • Support Keystone in maintaining at least 15 active members with strong year-over-year retention
  • Support Keystone members in leading at least four large-scale community service projects annually
  • Establish and support a Youth of the Year cohort of at least 10 members annually
  • Support recruitment and retention efforts for Forest High School members and leadership programs
  • Assist with outreach initiatives and 8th-grade transition efforts to increase teen participation
  • Help maintain an active and visible leadership program presence on school campuses and within the community
  • Serve as a liaison between Forest High School Center staff, teens, families, and community partners to strengthen services and resources available to youth
  • Support consistent implementation of teen leadership and workforce development programs with high levels of engagement and participation
  • Collaborate with Clubhouse and school site staff to strengthen teen programming and member engagement
  • Partner with BGCA and Regional Advisory Council partners to access training, tools, and leadership resources
  • Maintain strong partnerships and collaboration across school staff, community partners, and BGCP teams
  • Assist with planning and implementation of Community Friday events and other teen-focused activities
  • Support additional projects and responsibilities as assigned by the Clubhouse Director
  • Perform additional relevant duties as assigned to support evolving organizational needs.
