About The Position

This position assumes responsibility for the entire indoor track program. The Head Coach will coach the varsity squad, implement district athletic department policies, and assist in the selection and evaluation of Junior Varsity and assistant coaching staff. Key responsibilities include communicating game schedules and travel arrangements for out-of-town trips, verifying student eligibility requirements, and supervising students during travel and competitions. The coach will also be responsible for athlete care, equipment and uniform management, preparing award lists and season records, and operating within the policies of the Manchester School District (MSD). The role involves staying informed on current trends in the sport, attending clinics, maintaining professional memberships, fostering positive relationships with other coaches, and performing other duties as assigned by the MSD Athletic Director/Athletic Coordinator and Principal. Additionally, the coach will communicate with players regarding personal development, hold meetings with parents about sportsmanship, promote the program to encourage participation, and enforce student discipline in accordance with the Student Code of Conduct.

Requirements

Coaching experience (implied by Head Coach title)
Knowledge of indoor track and field

Responsibilities

Coaching the varsity squad.

Remaining with students and supervising them while traveling to away competitions.
Caring for athletes and injured athletes.
Caring for, maintaining, and overseeing the storage of all equipment and uniforms.
Preparing award lists and season records.
Attending all state meetings where the program is involved and operating within the policies of the MSD.
Keeping informed on current trends in your sport and attending and participating in clinics in your sport.
Maintaining active membership in related professional organizations.
Maintaining a positive staff relationship with other coaches.
Performing other duties as assigned by the MSD Athletic Director/Athletic Coordinator and Principal.
Communicating with players about personal development during the season as well as the off-season.
Holding meetings with parents regarding sportsmanship.
Promoting the high school program by encouraging participation of players of the upcoming season.
Applying and enforcing student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips off school property in accordance with Student Code of Conduct and student handbook.
