About The Position

The High School Head Boys Soccer Coach is responsible for providing instruction and coaching to students as a means of developing soccer skills and contributing to all student athlete success in the classroom. The Head Boys Soccer Coach is further responsible for directly supervising all assigned personnel along with ensuring and encouraging sportsmanlike conduct amongst all students and staff.

Requirements

Candidate must hold, or be eligible to hold, a Wyoming Professional Teaching Standards Board (PTSB) endorsement as a Head Soccer Coach.
Ability to use effective communication skills
Robust knowledge of the sport of soccer including strategy, rules, and coaching
Ability to use time effectively
Good organizational skills
Ability to maintain a positive relationship with other staff by collaborating and working cooperatively with them (including supervisors)
Knowledge of physiological, psychological, emotional and educational behavioral development of children and/or adolescents
Ability to lead meetings
Ability to help coaches achieve consensus
Vision (which may be corrected) to read small print; view a computer screen for prolonged periods.
Hearing (which may be corrected) to answer telephones and tolerate exposure to noisy conditions.
Speech to be understood in face-to-face communications; to speak with a level of proficiency and volume to be understood over a telephone.
Use hands and fingers to feel, grasp, and manipulate small objects; manipulate fingers, twist and bend at the wrist and elbow; extend arms to reach outward and upward; use hands and arms to lift objects; turn, raise, and lower the head.
Lift, push, pull and/or carry objects which weigh as much as 40 or more pounds on a frequent basis.
Encounter constant work interruptions; work cooperatively with others; work independently; work outdoors and indoors.
Read, write, understand, interpret and apply information at a moderately complex level essential for successful job performance; math skills at a high school proficiency level; judgement and the ability to process information quickly; learn quickly and follow verbal procedures and standards; give verbal instruction; rank tasks in order of importance; copy, compare, compile, and coordinate information and records.
Requires travel to multiple sites.

Responsibilities

Uses a variety of coaching techniques and methods along with media to meet the needs of student athletes and the boys soccer program as a means of improving the abilities of student athletes in the assigned sport.
Manages and supervises all high school boys soccer activities, contests, and practice sessions to promote individual growth in athletic skills, teamwork, discipline, respect, and good sportsmanship.
Works with other members of school staff to plan and put in place instructional goals and objectives to ensure overall educational development of student athletes.
Ensures that all soccer coaches work together toward a common goal of success within the soccer program and provide system unity with all lower-level soccer programs within the community.
Establishes performance criteria for competition and evaluates student athletic abilities on an initial and regular basis.
Ensures all necessary precautions and safeguards are in place to protect student athletes, equipment, materials, and facilities.
Monitors and enforces student eligibility criteria for extracurricular participation.
Works with the Principal and other coaches to schedule competitions and coordinate appropriate arrangements.
Assists in the development and coordination of a continuing system of evaluations of all coaches within the boys soccer program and makes changes based on findings and the ongoing needs of the program.
Accompanies and supervises student athletes during athletic competitions in assigned sports when traveling to compete.
Maintains a regular system of files containing all material relevant to the boys soccer program including eligibility forms, transfer forms, grade reports, and ensures that all ACSD#1 District policies are followed.
Applies and enforces student discipline during athletic contests, practice sessions, and while on trips of school property in accordance with ACSD#1 policies and the student handbook.
Encourages sportsmanlike conduct in all phases of athletic participation.
Establishes and maintains open communication by conducting conferences with parents, students, principals, and teachers.
Maintains inventory of all fixed assets of the track program.
Oversees process of cleaning, repairing, and storing all program athletic equipment.
Annually establishes and meets performance goals.
