About The Position

The College Preparatory School, a private high school in North Oakland, seeks a Girls Varsity Head Coach to lead our Girls soccer program. We seek dynamic candidates looking to help build on an established and successful program that won multiple league championships in the past several years and has had multiple athletes compete in college. Coaching candidates must have a passion for coaching soccer and teaching lifelong values of sportsmanship, integrity, commitment, personal responsibility, teamwork, and self-discipline. The 2026-27 season runs from November 2, 2026 to March 13, 2027.

Requirements

  • Knowledgeable of the fundamentals and advanced techniques of soccer
  • Be a positive role model and provide direction to players of all skill levels, from the beginning player to the advanced player.
  • Applicants must have experience in coaching at the high school or college level.
  • Positive and professional attitude
  • Flexible afternoon and evening schedules
  • Valid California driver's license

Nice To Haves

  • CPR and first-aid training preferred (or willingness to gain proficiency)

Responsibilities

  • Providing instruction, mentoring, and coaching the necessary skills, techniques, and competitive strategies of soccer
  • Organize and execute practice and season-long coaching plans.
  • Work effectively with student-athletes of varying abilities and cultural backgrounds to instill commitment, discipline, and teamwork.
  • Ability to motivate student-athletes to participate and sustain their interests in the program.
  • Be a positive role model for students, coaching staff, and the College Prep community.
  • Ability to supervise, organize, and motivate a coaching staff at all levels
  • Working cooperatively and professionally with all school staff
  • Attending all department and league meetings
  • Presenting a positive image to the student-athletes and the campus community by maintaining appropriate standards of professional conduct and ethics
  • Maintain good public relations and cooperative relationships with media, parents, officials, students, staff, and school administration.
  • Demonstrate knowledge of and adhere to and keep abreast of NFHS, CIF, NCS, and League rules.
  • Assume responsibility for inventory, equipment, and care of school or rented facilities.
  • Responsible for the supervision of all students affiliated with the team.
  • Report injuries to Athletic Trainer, Athletic Director, and Assistant Athletic Director promptly.
