About The Position

The purpose of this position is to partner with the NorthPointe Christian learning community toward building belonging through relationships, assisting learners toward knowing Christ as Savior, and encouraging the development of God-given potential. This position actively engages in NorthPointe Christian’s mission of “Equipping students to impact their world for Jesus Christ.” This position is for the 2026-2027 school year and is part-time with the possibility of becoming full-time.

Requirements

  • Active Christian in agreement with and willing to sign the NorthPointe Christian School’s Foundational statements.
  • Experience and patience with differently abled individuals.
  • Openness to development of teaching skills.
  • Flexibility in team/student demands.
  • Discernment and creativity in meeting student needs.
  • High School Diploma or GED required; some college experience preferred.
  • Reliable transportation to and from work.
  • Able to pass required background checks and fingerprint screening.
  • Exhibit the verbal ability to understand meaning of words, the ideas associated with them, and the ability to convey them to others clearly using oral expression and comprehension.
  • Display a willingness to learn and share insights, tips, and strategies learned along the way.

Responsibilities

  • Support the School’s Foundational Statements and mission through word and deed.
  • Join in expanding understanding of best practices for engaging all learners to the glory of God.
  • Integrate Biblical principles and Scripture into daily activities.
  • Minister to students through prayer, encouragement, and wise counsel.
  • Provide caring, differentiated assistance to differently abled students in one on one, small group settings, and in the larger general education classroom setting.
  • Assist with the accommodations of student activities/assignments and implementation of individualized student plans.
  • Follow instructions and lesson plans given by ESS and general education teachers in instructional, spiritual, and social-emotional needs of the students.
  • Assist with knowing students well by logging observations and best practices.
  • Participate in team meetings and professional development opportunities.
  • Practice effective management practices reflecting respect and understanding of the students’ particular strengths and challenges.
  • Make positive communication with team members, students, and parents a priority.
  • Be committed to respond to all communication requests within twenty-four hours.
  • Be familiar with the handbook procedures and recommendations.
  • Professionally represents the school in interactions with parents, community, staff, and students.
  • Remain professional in attire and behavior.
  • Maintain open communication with leadership regarding questions, concerns, and needs.
  • Respect the confidential nature of the role with sensitive management of information within the school community; information should not be shared outside the context of ESS responsibilities.
  • Encircle the needs of the ESS teaching team, their families, and students in prayer and celebrate the victories.
