About The Position

Match Charter Public School is seeking a High School English as a Second Language (ESL) teacher for the 2026-2027 school year. This position is located at their high school campus in Brighton, Boston. The role involves supporting multilingual learners by providing direct instruction, co-teaching, and inclusion support in general education classes. The teacher will also be responsible for managing language acquisition programming, communicating with families, and collaborating with staff on language development best practices. Requirements

  • At least two years of full-time experience as an ESL, classroom, or special education teacher, preferably in an urban education setting
  • Hold a valid and appropriate ESL license issued by the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, or obtain the licensure by date of hire
  • Believe that all students can and will succeed
  • Desire to continually improve their practice as a teacher by taking and implementing feedback
  • Have a proven record of student success and achievement
  • Current US work authorization

Responsibilities

  • Providing co-teaching, instructional and inclusion support in general education classes with multilingual learners
  • Providing targeted language interventions to multilingual students in a small group setting
  • Using ELD levels and other formative assessments to drive instruction and achieve language acquisition goals
  • Helping to manage the school’s language acquisition programming including, but not limited to: completion of necessary paperwork and filing, teacher professional development, management of parent and student communication, administration of student testing/screening, and upholding applicable Department of Elementary and Secondary Education compliance requirements
  • Communicating regularly with families about student progress through phone calls, text messages, emails, and in-person meetings
  • Working together with other team members to teach back to the school staff about language development and best practices for building language in the classroom every day
  • Uphold high academic and behavioral expectations for students, and provide lots of support for getting students there
  • Participate actively in Match’s coaching and professional development programming
  • Assist with school programming as needed during non-instructional time (e.g. arrival, lunch and dismissal)
  • Serve as a positive and collaborative member of the Match Charter Public School community
