High school English teachers at Southside Christian School are responsible for planning and delivering effective instruction from a biblical worldview to students in grades 9–12. Their focus is on developing students' reading, writing, speaking, and critical thinking skills through teaching literature, grammar, and composition. They guide students in analyzing texts, developing arguments, and assess learning through various methods, providing timely feedback to support improvement. Additionally, they manage the classroom environment, differentiate instruction to meet diverse learning needs, align lessons with Southside Christian School's curriculum standards, and foster a lifelong appreciation for language and literature. Teachers are expected to effectively manage a classroom, teach with excellence, and create an engaging, relational, and joy-filled learning environment. They must provide excellence in planning, teamwork, and communication, be creative, have a strong work ethic, and think "outside the box". Working in a team-centered environment, they are to include biblical integration in all lessons, engage students in inquiry-based activities, and treat all students with dignity, gentleness, and respect, ensuring their physical, emotional, and spiritual safety and security.
