Responsibilities

  • Serve as the point person for student culture and discipline in collaboration with the High School Leadership Team.
  • Run an effective and accountable High School Dean’s Office, monitoring and tracking students’ growth and behavior.
  • Assist teachers, students, school counselors, and families in creating and implementing individual behavior plans.
  • Lead staff efforts to ensure excellent student attendance, punctuality, preparedness, and adherence to school uniform policies.
  • Analyze student behavior and culture data to support individual, grade-level, and school-wide goals.
  • Collaborate and communicate daily with teachers and staff to meet students’ needs.
  • Conduct investigations related to the Code of Conduct, including those that may require suspension.
  • Partner with school leaders and manage communication with students, faculty, and families for disciplinary matters.
  • Lead disciplinary hearings and all related communication.
  • Maintain a strong presence throughout the school day in classrooms, hallways, common spaces, arrival, lunch, dismissal, and transitions.
  • Ensure schoolwide expectations for student behavior are consistently upheld.
  • Communicate regularly about the importance of the school's mission, virtues, and priorities.
  • Participate in school leadership team meetings to ensure alignment on cultural goals and norms.
  • Review data (attendance, behavioral, academic) and develop strategies and supports for struggling students.
  • Support Grade Level Leads in planning and executing weekly grade-level team meetings.
  • Monitor and improve systems and routines for students (e.g., arrival, dismissal, transitions, lunch).
  • Be highly present and visible during school hours (7:15 am - 4:15 pm).
  • Model urgency, consistency, and a belief in the value of every learning minute.
  • Build strong relationships with students to promote confidence and engagement.
  • Communicate regularly with families about academic progress and intervention goals.
  • Provide families with strategies to support reading development at home.
  • Foster a supportive and inclusive learning environment.
  • Model empathy and maintain high expectations for all learners.
  • Participate in family conferences, school events, and community engagement activities.
  • Attend and participate in weekly staff professional development, including One Team meetings, department meetings, and grade-level meetings.
  • Work collaboratively with colleagues, support staff, and school leadership.
  • Contribute positively to Boston Prep’s collaborative and mission-driven school culture.
  • Support school systems and structures with fidelity.
  • Participate in school-wide initiatives that strengthen student success.
  • Supervise lunch periods, manage swipe and front desk duties, and cover classes as needed.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and commitment to the school's mission by undertaking additional responsibilities.
  • Establish a professional rapport and strong relationship with students, staff, and families.
  • Display the highest ethical and professional behavior.
  • Support the effective implementation of school culture systems, including detention.
  • Actively engage in one’s own learning, seeking and acting on feedback.
  • Actively pursue professional development, inside and outside of the school.
  • Collaborate with other teachers and administrators to advance the school’s mission.

Benefits

  • The salary range for this role is $79,406 - $111,790.
  • Final compensation will be based on years of experience.
