About The Position

This posting is for High School Students participating in a CTE program. Applicants must be attending an Application Session with an IU Health representative. The position covers all Metro Region locations, including Methodist, University, Riley Children's, Fishers, North, and West Hospitals. The role involves a combination of direct patient care and unit clerical duties. The Technician-Unit Support administers care to designated patients under the direction of a Clinical Nurse and provides support to the patient care team. Key responsibilities include ensuring a clean and orderly patient environment, providing assistance and information to physicians, patients, families, customers, and vendors. The role may also involve scheduling tests and procedures, maintaining patient records, signing patients in and out, and managing the ordering, receiving, and delivery of equipment and supplies for the patient care team. Continuous observation, including for suicide prevention, may also be required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED is required
  • CPR (May be required)
  • Previous comparable acute patient care experience or successful completion of the IU Health PCA education program
  • Current Basic Life Support certification through the AHA or attainment at the completion of the IU Health PCA education program
  • Other advanced life support certifications may be required per unit/department specialty according to patient care policies
  • Basic knowledge of medical terminology
  • Knowledge of procedures and standards related to patient care activities
  • Knowledge of principles of infection control
  • Basic computer skills

Responsibilities
