About The Position

New Covenant Academy (NCA), a Christian school serving grades Jr.K-12, is seeking a qualified candidate for a full-time High School Counselor. This position involves a 12-month employment agreement, renewable annually, beginning in July 2026. The counselor will guide and counsel individual students and groups to meet developmental, educational, and guidance needs. Responsibilities include coordinating school testing programs, implementing the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program, conducting classroom guidance lessons, and assisting students with grade-level transitions. The role also involves assisting with the admissions process by testing prospective students, evaluating academic records, and conferring with principals. Additionally, the counselor will coordinate the Student Support Team (SST) by developing and implementing academic/behavior intervention plans, assist in coordinating Special Education services, and manage the dual credit program with colleges. A stipend is offered for managing the A+ program.

Requirements

  • Master’s Degree in a job-related area (preferred in school counseling).
  • Hold or have the ability to obtain Missouri Career Student Services certificate in school counseling.
  • Possess a Christian testimony reflected in a daily walk that exemplifies the Christian faith.
  • Demonstrate evidence of regeneration and dedication to the cause of Christ.
  • Experience in counseling methods and/or education.
  • Demonstrate the ability to organize, promote, and carry out the comprehensive counseling program.
  • Possess an understanding of child development stages.
  • Demonstrate an understanding of methods of instruction and training.
  • Must have an expressed desire (call) to work in a Christian school.
  • Support the mission statement: 'New Covenant Academy is a Christian school committed to Academic Excellence, Biblical Truth, and Christ-like character'.

Nice To Haves

  • Certification in school counseling with life experience in youth ministry is preferred over church ministry-based counseling.

Responsibilities

  • Guide and counsel individual students and groups for the purpose of meeting developmental, educational, and guidance needs.
  • Assist in the coordination of the school testing programs and assure all ethical and standardized test administration procedures are followed.
  • Implement the Missouri Comprehensive Guidance Program.
  • Conduct classroom guidance lessons that contribute to the academic, college/career and personal/social development of all students.
  • Assist students in making transitions between grade levels.
  • Assist with the admissions process by testing prospective students, evaluating academic records, and conferring with the 5-12 principals regarding prospective or current students’ potential for academic success.
  • Coordinate the Student Support Team (SST) through the selection, development, and implementation of individual evidence-based academic/behavior intervention plans.
  • Assist in the coordination of Special Education services through the referral process and implementation of Individual Service Plans (ISP).
  • Manage and coordinate the dual credit program with colleges.
  • Manage the A+ program.
