About The Position

Under the general direction of the Principal or Assistant Principals, the teacher is responsible for helping students learn subject matter and skills that will contribute to their development as mature, able, and responsible adults. This role involves proficiently performing essential functions in planning, delivery of instruction, assessment, instructional environment, and professional responsibilities. The successful candidate will demonstrate effective preparation for instruction, apply knowledge gained from staff development, plan for the use of a variety of teaching materials, demonstrate knowledge of the subject matter, and implement effective lessons. They will provide for individual differences in learning styles and abilities, use appropriate assessment methods, evaluate assessment results, and use them for instructional decision-making. Feedback will be consistently provided to students and parents regarding student achievement. The teacher will establish a culture for learning, organize the instructional environment to encourage student learning, manage student behavior constructively, and demonstrate positive interpersonal relationships with staff, parents, administration, and the community. Professional work habits, adherence to school district and state policies, and professional development are also key aspects of this role. Additional responsibilities may include serving as a course team leader, a member of a 9th or 10th-grade community team, and/or supervising a hall duty station.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree from an accredited college or university, with required licensure and endorsements.
  • Holds a Valid Illinois Teaching License with the appropriate endorsement(s) to teach high school students in the required discipline/content area (Professional Educator License or Educator License with Stipulations for CTE or CTEP).
  • COOP Certificate is necessary because the position includes the duties of the Coordinator of the Cooperative Career Education Program.
  • 2-3 years of teaching experience at the high school level, except in the case of a new college graduate.
