About The Position

Stoneham High School is seeking a licensed Chemistry Teacher to join our Science Department for the 2024-2025 school year. Ideal candidates have experience teaching Chemistry at the high school level. Preferred candidates will have an understanding of inclusive practices and an ability to teach to all students and their unique learning needs and styles.

Requirements

  • Licensed Chemistry Teacher
  • Experience teaching Chemistry at the high school level
  • Extensive knowledge in the content area
  • Ability to communicate high standards and expectations to students, families and stakeholders
  • Ability to plan formative and summative assessments that inform instruction
  • Must be able to incorporate higher order thinking skills into lesson planning
  • Direct instruction of laboratory safety practices and skills, and frequent incorporation of investigative and summative labs into the curriculum
  • Collaboration with members of the department is essential
  • Familiarity with handling of volatile, toxic, flammable, and otherwise dangerous chemicals
  • Ability to read Safety Data Sheets
  • Proficient chemical hygiene
  • Clear communication with Head of Facilities for chemical storage and disposal

Nice To Haves

  • Experience teaching AP Chemistry
  • Understanding of inclusive practices and an ability to teach to all students and their unique learning needs and styles
  • Experience with Universal Design for Learning
