About The Position

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Biology, Life Sciences, or related field
  • Minimum 3-5 years of tutoring or teaching experience at the high school level
  • Strong knowledge of high school biology curriculum including cell biology, genetics, ecology, and evolution
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills
  • Proven ability to explain complex scientific concepts in accessible ways
  • Experience with online tutoring platforms and virtual classroom technologies
  • Reliable high-speed internet connection and professional home office setup
  • Flexible schedule to accommodate student availability including evenings and weekends

Nice To Haves

  • Master's degree in Biology, Education, or related field
  • Teaching certification or tutoring credentials
  • Experience preparing students for AP Biology exams
  • Familiarity with multiple online learning management systems
  • Previous experience working with diverse student populations
  • Bilingual capabilities (Spanish preferred)
  • Proficiency with video conferencing platforms (Zoom, Google Meet, Microsoft Teams)
  • Experience with digital whiteboard and screen sharing tools
  • Knowledge of educational software and online assessment tools
  • Ability to create and share digital learning materials
  • Basic troubleshooting skills for common technical issues
  • Familiarity with learning management systems and student tracking software

Responsibilities

  • Deliver engaging one-on-one and small group biology tutoring sessions via online platforms
  • Develop customized lesson plans tailored to individual student learning styles and academic needs
  • Assess student progress and adjust teaching strategies to maximize learning outcomes
  • Collaborate with students to prepare for exams, standardized tests, and biology coursework
  • Create supplementary learning materials and practice exercises to reinforce key concepts
  • Maintain detailed records of student progress and communicate updates to parents and guardians
  • Stay current with high school biology curriculum standards and educational best practices
  • Foster a positive and supportive learning environment that encourages student confidence
