About The Position

Victory Preparatory Academy (VPA), a high-performing public charter school serving grades 6–12, is seeking a passionate, mission-driven High School Biology & Chemistry Teacher to join our award-winning team. This position teaches traditional 9th-grade Biology and high school Chemistry, engaging students through hands-on laboratory investigations, scientific inquiry, demonstrations, data analysis, and real-world applications of science. Requirements

  • Valid Colorado Teaching License with a Secondary Science endorsement OR 36 semester credit hours in Biology, Chemistry, or Science OR Passing score on the appropriate PRAXIS Science content exam
  • Ability to safely conduct laboratory investigations
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong Biology and Chemistry content knowledge
  • Belief that laboratory experiences are essential to student learning
  • Ability to build positive relationships while maintaining high expectations
  • Ability to create an organized, structured classroom environment
  • Commitment to continuous professional growth
  • Ability to make science engaging, relevant, and accessible for every student

Nice To Haves

  • Previous secondary teaching experience
  • Experience with laboratory instruction
  • Familiarity with Teach Like A Champion, direct instruction, or structured instructional models

Responsibilities

  • Teach Biology and Chemistry aligned to Colorado Academic Standards
  • Design engaging lessons and laboratory experiences that develop scientific thinking
  • Teach Biology topics including cells, genetics, evolution, ecology, homeostasis, and biological systems
  • Teach Chemistry topics including atomic structure, bonding, chemical reactions, stoichiometry, solutions, acids and bases, gas laws, and introductory thermochemistry
  • Conduct safe, engaging laboratory investigations
  • Teach laboratory safety, scientific measurement, data collection, graphing, scientific writing, and evidence-based conclusions
  • Maintain a safe and organized science laboratory
  • Deliver engaging instruction using direct instruction, gradual release ("I Do, We Do, You Do"), and frequent checks for understanding
  • Monitor student progress and communicate regularly with families
  • Collaborate with colleagues to improve curriculum, assessments, interventions, and instructional practices
