About The Position

Sierra Vista Unified School District is seeking passionate, dedicated coaches to join our athletic team for the 2026/2027 school year. This is a seasonal position with competitive supplemental coaching salaries. Requirements

  • Ability to obtain the National Federation of State High School Associations Level I Certification
  • Ability to successfully complete the NFHS course titled "Bullying, Hazing and Inappropriate Behaviors"
  • Ability to obtain CPR/First Aid Certification
  • Ability to obtain a valid Arizona IVP Fingerprint Clearance Card
  • Knowledge, skill and or experience in the implementation of Positive Behavior Intervention Supports (PBIS) strategies or be willing to receive training in those strategies as applicable.

Nice To Haves

  • Valid Arizona Teaching Certificate or Arizona Coaching Certificate

Responsibilities

  • Coach individual participants in the skills necessary for excellent achievement in the sport involved.
  • Plan and schedule a regular program of practice in season.
  • Maintain necessary attendance forms, insurance records, and similar paperwork.
  • Oversee the safety conditions of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
  • Enforce discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times and oversee penalties for breach of such standards by individual students.
  • Utilize, with fidelity, the District Positive Behavior Intervention Support (PBIS) program at the building level.
  • Ensure information obtained through the course of duties associated with this position is held in the highest of confidentiality.
  • Perform all duties in accordance with Federal and State laws, district procedures and Board policies; including mandatory reporting procedures.
  • Work under the management of the Varsity Coach for their respective sport.
  • Provide leadership in the ongoing development and improvement of student athletes in their sport through coordinating, planning, evaluation, and implementation of programs.
  • Carry on their respective sport within the best interest of Sierra Vista Unified School District and its students within the bounds of the rules set forth by the AIA and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS).
  • Demonstrate and apply leadership, integrity, responsibility, self-control, and knowledge of rules and regulations at all times.
  • Act in a responsible and professional manner.
  • Set a good example and provide a healthy lifestyle.
