About The Position

This role involves assisting the Head Coach in all aspects of managing the high school boys' soccer program. The assistant coach will focus on developing player skills, promoting positive character traits, and ensuring the team operates within established rules and guidelines. Responsibilities include coaching during practices and games, supporting player development both on and off the field, and contributing to the overall positive environment of the athletic department.

Requirements

  • Knowledge of soccer fundamentals and advanced skills
  • Understanding of coaching principles and techniques
  • Ability to promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and character development
  • Supervisory skills for student-athletes
  • Knowledge of game preparation, scouting, and coaching strategies
  • Understanding of offseason conditioning and summer program needs
  • Ability to monitor academic progress and behavior
  • Knowledge of MSHSAA rules and regulations
  • Skills in inventory and equipment management
  • Communication skills with players, parents, staff, and administration
  • Ability to foster a safe and inclusive environment

Nice To Haves

  • Experience as a high school soccer coach
  • Experience with MSHSAA regulations
  • First Aid/CPR certification

Responsibilities

  • Assist with planning and conducting practices, workouts, and team activities
  • Teach and develop fundamental and advanced soccer skills
  • Promote sportsmanship, teamwork, discipline, and character development
  • Help supervise student-athletes during practices, games, travel, and team events
  • Assist with game preparation, scouting, and in-game coaching responsibilities
  • Support offseason conditioning and summer program participation
  • Monitor and encourage academic progress and appropriate behavior of student-athletes
  • Ensure compliance with all district, conference, and Missouri State High School Activities Association (MSHSAA) rules and regulations
  • Assist with inventory, equipment management, and facility upkeep
  • Maintain positive communication with players, parents, staff, and administration
  • Help foster a safe and inclusive environment for all participants
  • Perform additional duties assigned by the Head Coach or Athletic Director
