About The Position

As a highly visible representative of Ascent Classical Academy of Northern Denver, the ideal candidate will embody strong character and professionalism, representing our school community with integrity in interactions with various public groups, including leagues, organizations, schools, and media outlets. This position collaborates directly with and reports to the Head High School Boys Basketball Coach while serving at the discretion of the Athletic Director.

Requirements

  • At least a high school diploma or GED.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of individuals.
  • Commitment to fostering a positive and all-encompassing team environment.
  • Completing all required coaching training prior to the start of each sport season.
  • Loyalty to the mission and vision of the school and ACACS.
  • Commitment to model moral character in line with the school's core virtues.
  • Adherence to all ACACS policies, including but not limited to the Athletic Handbook, Employee Handbook, Family Handbook, and all applicable school and board policies.
  • Must be able to lift up to 25 pounds.
  • Must be able to traverse the sports complex, field, or court.
  • Mandatory background checks, including a comprehensive fingerprint background check.
  • Verification of qualifications, including reference checks.
  • Adherence to Colorado Education Laws.

Nice To Haves

  • Prefer a college degree.
  • Previous high school or middle school coaching experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Assisting with the planning, preparation, and coaching of all student-athletes in conjunction with the head coach.
  • Thoroughly understanding and applying all of the rules, principles, and competitive strategies of the sport.
  • Demonstrating proficient knowledge in the physical and mental training of competitive athletes, along with the integration of sport strategies that elevate the performance of all team members.
  • Creating and implementing a safe, coherent, and effective training program concentrated on the physical development for all athletes.
  • Creating a visionary process focusing on the building and sustainment of the long-term success of the program.
  • Effectively communicating well both verbally and in writing with all activities staff, parents, students, news media, other staff members, and visitors to the school.
  • Efficaciously overseeing the safety of all team personnel through proper planning and management of organizational policies.
  • Assisting with the development of the program as necessary.
  • Being present at all in-season and out-of-season practices and at all games.
  • Attending all CHSAA and league meetings as requested.
  • Assisting with the setup and take-down of equipment for practices and games.
  • Completing all required training and providing documentation, as well as official college transcripts, within 90 days of hire date.
  • Demonstrating consistent and reliable attendance by adhering to assigned work hours, reporting on time, and following proper procedures for absences or tardiness to ensure minimal disruption to students, colleagues, and school operations.
  • Performing other duties as assigned.
