About The Position

Tigard High School is seeking a passionate, dynamic, and student-centered Art Teacher to join our school! This position is designed for an educator who can inspire students across a wide range of skill levels—from those taking their very first art class to advanced students pushing the boundaries of their creativity in the International Baccalaureate (IB) Art Seminar. The ideal candidate will have expertise in drawing and painting, the ability to explore other mediums, and a deep commitment to fostering an inclusive classroom environment where every student can find their artistic voice. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience.
  • Valid state teaching license with an Art Endorsement
  • Ability to follow lesson plans and adjust to a variety of subject areas and grade levels.

Responsibilities

  • Implement lesson plans provided by the regular teacher or school administration.
  • Prepare and deliver instructional activities aligned to state standards and district curriculum.
  • Provide clear directions and maintain instructional flow for students.
  • Establish and maintain a safe, respectful, and orderly classroom environment.
  • Uphold school and district expectations for student behavior and engagement.
  • Supervise students during assigned instructional and non-instructional times.
  • Administer quizzes, tests, or assignments as directed by the teacher.
  • Collect and return student work for grading or review by the regular teacher.
  • Record attendance and maintain basic classroom documentation.
  • Communicate with school staff regarding student needs, progress, and concerns.
  • Follow guidance from administrators, department heads, and colleagues to ensure consistency of instruction.
  • Maintain professionalism, confidentiality, and alignment with district policies.

Benefits

  • Salary: $53,810- $108,384 (Based on 190 day contract- 1.0 FTE)
  • Tigard Tualatin School District pays the 6% employee PERS contribution, upon eligibility.
