About The Position

KIPP Miami is seeking an experienced High School Algebra Teacher to design and deliver a rigorous, college-preparatory Algebra program. The role involves teaching courses such as Algebra I, Algebra II, or Geometry, and preparing students for advanced math pathways. The curriculum will integrate career and technical education (CTE) strands and problem-based learning tied to local industries and higher education opportunities. This position is for the inaugural ninth-grade class in school year 2026-2027, with the school growing to serve grades 9-12. KIPP Miami Tech will offer specialized career academies in Business, Commercial & Digital Arts, and Technology, aiming to equip students with academic foundations, professional skills, and real-world experiences for college or career pathways. Graduates will have a high school diploma, college credits, industry-recognized credentials, and hands-on experience.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree is required.
  • Degree and/or substantive career experience in Mathematics, Engineering, Architecture, Computer Science, Finance, or related STEM field.
  • At least two (2) years of full-time high school teaching experience in mathematics (required).
  • Prior success teaching Algebra I, Algebra II, or Geometry with strong student outcomes.
  • Valid Florida Educator Certificate (or eligibility) in Mathematics (6–12). (Candidates pursuing reciprocity or temporary certification must be eligible under Florida statutes.)
  • Demonstrated ability to deliver rigorous instruction and achieve measurable student growth in high school Algebra.
  • Commitment to complete required CTE coursework and pass state CTE examinations relevant to assigned pathways within the first 24 months of employment (tuition/fees may be eligible for reimbursement per KIPP Miami policy).
  • Strong proficiency with instructional technology and data-driven decision-making.
  • Satisfactory background check and fingerprint clearance.
  • Experience integrating CTE content and preparing students for industry certifications.

  • Proficiency in Spanish and/or Creole, preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Plan and teach a rigorous, standards-aligned math curriculum (including Honors and advanced pathways) that meets Florida’s B.E.S.T. Standards and Miami-Dade advanced program expectations.
  • Design unit plans that develop mathematical reasoning across technology-rich instruction and inquiry-driven pedagogy, leveraging project-based learning to strengthen real-world application of concepts (finance, computer programming, engineering design).
  • Develop assessments and performance tasks aligned to state benchmarks and advanced programs; use data to provide targeted support and track mastery.
  • Prepare students for state exams, college-readiness benchmarks, and advanced program entry points (AP, AICE, IB, Dual Enrollment).
  • Collaborate with the mathematics department to ensure vertical alignment from Algebra I through advanced math courses.
  • Provide equitable access to rigorous coursework that prepares students for AP, AICE, IB, and Dual Enrollment math.
  • Embed CTE competencies and prepare students for industry-recognized certifications relevant to mathematics applications (e.g., Microsoft Excel Specialist, OSHA-10, Introduction to Coding, Data Analytics Fundamentals).
  • Complete required CTE coursework and state examinations within the prescribed timeline and maintain all related credentials.
  • Model and uphold KIPP Miami’s Heartbeat Principles in all interactions; create an inclusive, purposeful classroom culture with high expectations and joy.
  • Partner with families through transparent progress reporting, student-led conferences, and proactive communication.
  • Prepare students for industry-recognized certifications (e.g., OSHA-10, CAD fundamentals, pre-engineering certifications).
  • Collaborate with colleagues in professional learning communities, content teams, and advanced programs alignment.
  • Contribute to a school-wide culture of continuous improvement through coaching cycles, peer feedback, and shared best practices.
