About The Position

Academic Advisors at Rocky Mountain Prep partner with students and families to ensure every scholar graduates with a clear, ambitious post-secondary plan. Through data-driven advising and relationship-centered coaching, advisors guide students in navigating college admissions, career pathways, and credentialing opportunities that lead to economic mobility. They monitor academic progress, identify barriers, and connect students to targeted supports to ensure success. Advisors also lead systems that promote college access, including family education, college partnerships, and exposure opportunities such as campus visits and workshops. By building strong relationships and leveraging data to inform decisions, Academic Advisors play a critical role in fulfilling RMP’s Graduate Guarantee and ensuring every student is prepared to thrive beyond high school.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree (any subject)
  • Within the first year of employment, complete CDE READ Act training or CDE Culturally and Linguistically Diverse (CLD) -45 contact hours.
  • Pass a background check.
  • Demonstrate Eligibility to work in the United States.
  • Use E-Verify to confirm the identity and employment eligibility of all new hires.

Responsibilities

  • Provide individualized, group, and family-based college and career counseling to ensure all students graduate with a clear post-secondary plan
  • Support students in course selection, ensuring alignment to graduation requirements, academic goals, and advanced coursework opportunities (e.g., AP, Concurrent Enrollment)
  • Monitor student academic progress and proactively intervene through targeted supports, resources, and partnerships
  • Lead the college application process, including essay development, resume building, financial aid guidance, and recommendation coordination
  • Plan and facilitate college access programming, including college fairs, campus visits, family workshops, and informational sessions
  • Maintain accurate and actionable student data related to academic progress, scheduling, and post-secondary outcomes
  • Analyze data to identify trends, inform advising practices, and improve student outcomes
  • Collaborate closely with teachers, registrars, counselors, and school leaders to ensure cohesive support for all students
  • Build strong relationships with students and families to foster trust, engagement, and shared ownership of post-secondary success
