Works directly with students who are diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder or other related developmental disabilities. Implements individualized academic and behavior programs. Provides instruction using the principles of Applied Behavior Analysis (ABA), including discrete trial instruction, task analysis, naturalistic teaching techniques. Participates in the daily routine of a classroom including but not limited to activities such as circle time, recess, lunch, group activities, and toileting. Independently implements student-specific behavior plans to decrease challenging behaviors and increase functional behaviors. Collects ongoing data, summarizes the data to monitor students’ progress, and identifies next steps in program. Conducts or assists with conducting student skills assessments. Communicates in written or verbal format with BCBA and classroom teacher about student progress. Implements direct instruction in the home or other after before/ school environment to increase appropriate social skills, activities of daily living, and social interactions and/or address other IEP goal areas. Models implementation of academic and behavior programs for parents. Assist with training staff in implementation of behavior intervention plans and skills building programs. Gathers, maintains, and prepares students’ materials, data sheets, and program notebooks. Responsible for any other duties assigned.
