About The Position

Baltimore Washington Medical Center (BWMC), a member of the University of Maryland Medical System, is seeking an experienced Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA) to join the Aiello Breast Center's outpatient clinic in Glen Burnie, MD. This role focuses on providing care for high-risk breast patients, aiming to enhance and improve care for this population and their families. The position offers a full-time weekday schedule with no call coverage, weekends, or after-hours responsibilities. The NP/PA will evaluate, assess, and manage patients with a high risk of cancer and benign breast disease, including genetic evaluations, family history assessment, breast pain, high-risk lesions, abnormal mammograms, and surveillance. The role involves independent patient care in an outpatient setting, seeing approximately 10-15 patients daily, and requires collaboration with an interdisciplinary team including breast surgeons, general surgeons, medical oncology, radiation oncology, and support staff. The work environment is described as physician and APP friendly and collaborative.

Requirements

  • Master of Science degree with completion of an accredited Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant Program required.
  • Board Certification Nurse Practitioner or Physician Assistant
  • Two (2) years required proven experience working as a Nurse Practitioner
  • Current state licensure as a Nurse Practitioner required.
  • Current state licensure as a Registered Nurse required.
  • Current NRP and PALS certifications
  • DEA and CDS eligible.

Nice To Haves

  • Oncology or Women’s Health experience is preferred
  • Ideal candidate will have background experience in with and treating breast cancer patients, oncology or long standing work history as a women’s health nurse practitioner.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate, assess and manage a wide variety of patients for high risk of cancer and benign breast disease to include genetic evaluations, family history, breast pain, high risk lesions, pre-cancer abnormal mammograms and surveillance
  • Independently provide care in outpatient setting, seeing approximately 10-15 patients including new patients and full up care
  • Collaborate with an interdisciplinary team to include breast surgeons, general surgeons, medical oncology, radiation oncology as well as compassionate support and ancillary staff.
