About The Position

Unity House is seeking a High-Risk Advocate to provide advocacy, specifically between law enforcement and victims, and provide support through the criminal justice process for those who are at the highest risk of lethality due to domestic violence. This is a full-time position that includes weekend, evening, and overnight hours with a flexible schedule. Unity House is a Rensselaer County-based human service agency that provides a wide range of services to meet the otherwise unmet needs of people in our community who are hurting and struggling. We assist those who are living in poverty, adults living with mental illness or HIV/AIDS, victims of domestic violence, and children with developmental delays. We work to achieve social justice in our community and to create a better understanding of those we serve.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s Degree preferred
• 2 or more years of related experience
• a valid NYS driver’s license and acceptable driving record; and reliable transportation

Responsibilities

• Provide emergency assistance for victims and survivors of domestic violence seeking assistance
• Provide emotional support, crisis intervention and safety planning
• Provide information, referrals and linkages to supportive services
• Provide on site support to law enforcement and victims for Domestic Incidents
• Assist in communication and follow up with law enforcement and victims
• Participate in collaboration efforts including attendance at Coordinated Community Response Meetings
• Complete contract and/or regulatory compliance activities
• Promote a work culture of inclusion and belongings
