About The Position

Thoroughly wash and clean the exterior glass of high-rise buildings across assigned facilities in the Puget Sound region. The work may take place at high-rise office buildings, industrial facilities, and bridges, and is primarily outdoors in varied weather conditions, including typical Seattle drizzle. Assignments can vary in duration and may require travel to different job sites. The role involves safely accessing elevated work areas using rope systems and other specialized equipment, following applicable safety procedures, inspecting and maintaining equipment, and communicating work status and safety information to teammates and supervisors. The posting also describes a range of possible rope-access work, including inspections, exterior cleaning, non-destructive testing, building-envelope repairs, and equipment installation, maintenance, or repair. Training is provided. The position may suit someone entering or returning to the workforce with limited experience and education.

Requirements

Current rope access certification, most commonly from IRATA or SPRAT, to be possessed and maintained.
Excellent physical condition and stamina, including the ability to lift heavy equipment and stand, bend, and work for extended periods.
Comfort and physical ability to work at significant or extreme heights and in varied weather conditions.
Ability to work independently, manage time effectively, and work well as part of a team.
Strong communication and problem-solving skills.
Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality.
Familiarity with cleaning chemicals, equipment, and safety standards.
Strong understanding of safety regulations and proper use of safety gear.
High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
Previous janitorial, custodial, general cleaning, window-cleaning, construction, inspection, or maintenance experience is beneficial or preferred.

Nice To Haves

Additional technical skills such as non-destructive testing or welding.
Previous experience in window cleaning or a related field.
Military or veteran experience.

Responsibilities

Thoroughly wash and clean the exterior glass of high-rise buildings.
Safely set up, maintain, and operate scaffolding, bosun's chairs, rope systems, water-fed poles, and other specialized equipment.
Install, inspect, and maintain rope access systems and rigging equipment for safe access to elevated work areas.
Follow employer safety procedures, applicable industry standards, and relevant regulations, including OSHA requirements.
Inspect ropes, harnesses, and other safety gear before and after use, and maintain cleaning and safety equipment in good working order.
Maintain proficiency in rescue techniques and assist with rescue operations as necessary.
Inspect windows for damage, including cracks or leaks, and report findings to building management.
Communicate with teammates and supervisors about safety and work status; document activities and report test results or findings.
Maintain the cleanliness of work areas and equipment used during cleaning tasks.
Perform other described rope-access tasks as assigned, which may include inspecting structures, non-destructive testing, building-envelope repairs, and equipment installation, maintenance, or repair.
