The High Performance Computing Data Storage Administrator III administers and optimizes enterprise and high-performance computing (HPC) storage systems. The role designs and implements storage pools, filesystems, and services; leads storage upgrades, expansions, migrations, and technology refreshes; and deploys, configures, and maintains production parallel filesystems. It resolves complex issues involving metadata, input/output, throughput, latency, capacity, and availability. The position develops and maintains data lifecycle workflows for high-speed ingest, tiered storage, archiving, replication, backup, disaster recovery, and long-term preservation. It coordinates large-scale data movement across HPC clusters, cloud providers, national laboratories, and research collaborators; develops automation; and implements storage monitoring and security practices. The administrator also provides technical consultation to researchers and staff. The role provides administration, operational, and technical leadership for the University's HPC storage infrastructure, supporting research in computational science, artificial intelligence, machine learning, and data-intensive fields. It partners with HPC systems administrators, network administrators, application administrators, cybersecurity staff, and researchers to deliver reliable, scalable, secure, and workload-optimized storage services. The administrator leads implementation projects, improves automation, optimizes storage performance, and mentors lower-level storage administrators.
