About The Position

This role requires a highly skilled HVAC Service Technician with strong mechanical expertise and experience diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining complex chilled water and refrigerant systems. The technician supports mission-critical data centers, labs, and supporting infrastructure, working alongside senior technicians and engineers to perform preventive maintenance, corrective repairs, and project-based work. This position ensures all facilities are maintained to meet or exceed company standards, applying specialized knowledge across multiple disciplines while maintaining a safe, efficient, and compliant working environment. Participation in an on-call rotation and emergency response is required.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • 4+ years of Data Center Facilities or related work experience.
  • Experience as a Journeyman-level HVAC Technician.
  • Refrigerant recovery certification for Type I, II, and III required.
  • Working knowledge of basic computer applications including email, documents, and spreadsheets.
  • Valid and current California driver’s license required.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.

Responsibilities

  • Work alongside senior technicians and engineers on preventive maintenance, repair, and project activities.
  • Support the maintenance of mechanical or electrical infrastructure in accordance with manufacturer recommendations and company standards.
  • Diagnose, repair, and maintain complex chilled water and refrigerant systems.
  • Read and interpret mechanical drawings, P&IDs, and electrical schematics.
  • Perform routine rounds throughout the data center and property to ensure system integrity and operational reliability.
  • Execute installation activities including rack layouts, electrical circuits, HVAC components, and hot/cold aisle configurations.
  • Provide oversight and coordination of contractors and third-party service providers.
  • Conduct daily inspections of all data center infrastructure equipment.
  • Maintain accurate data within the Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS).
  • Monitor Building Management Systems (BMS) and other automated tools to optimize operational performance.
  • Participate in an on-call rotation and respond to emergency situations as required.
  • Complete assigned tasks as part of project teams.
  • Respond to work requests in a timely manner while delivering a high level of customer support.
  • Adhere to all safety policies and procedures.
  • Participate in Change Management processes, including risk assessments and procedure development and review.
