About The Position

A High Dosage Tutor provides reading and math tutoring and instructional support to elementary- and middle-school-aged students. Tutors help students master grade-level academic standards through individual and small-group interventions, with groups of up to three students per tutor. This seasonal, part-time position works after school for 2 to 3.5 hours per day, five days per week. Schedules are determined by the school district and may change according to Think Together’s needs.

Requirements

• High school graduation or GED; proof required.
• At least 48 college semester units or 60 college quarter units, or passing a pre-employment test.
• Ability to inspire and motivate students.

Responsibilities

• Provide individual and small-group interventions to help students master instructional materials.
• Engage students by following and implementing the intervention curriculum.
• Read to students, listen to students read, and participate in other forms of oral communication with them.
• Score student assessments accurately and monitor student progress.
• Assist school staff in devising strategies to reinforce material based on students’ individual needs, interests, and abilities.
• Alert the Student and Family Literacy Coordinator to concerns or special information about individual students.
• Maintain ethical conduct and confidentiality of student information.
• Participate in assigned in-service training sessions.
• Operate and care for equipment and instructional materials.
• Keep daily attendance records for individual students.
• Complete paperwork accurately and on time.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
• Arrive punctually to meet site start-up and assignment responsibilities.
• Communicate with the Program Analyst about planned or emergency absences.
• Serve as a positive role model through appropriate dress, speech, attitude, and courtesy.
• Help maintain the site to Think Together standards.
• Comply with organizational and site policies and procedures.
