About The Position

The Mechanic works independently and with other plant personnel to perform preventative, predictive and routine maintenance tasks. This role includes troubleshooting issues, repairing failures of production and facilities equipment, and ensuring maximum equipment efficiency and effectiveness. This person provides direction for effective execution of maintenance activity on all machinery and equipment throughout the plant and office facilities. The Maintenance Mechanic is also responsible for the optimum utilization of available resources such as manpower, equipment, time, etc. This person must be responsible for decisions, actions and failures; must establish clear responsibilities and processes for monitoring work and measuring results. In addition, the maintenance mechanic must partner with others to get work done and work cooperatively with others across the organization to achieve shared objectives.

Requirements

  • 3+ years related experience and/or training
  • Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, and mechanics
  • Basic electrical repair in an industrial/manufacturing environment
  • Ability to read and interpret documents and drawings
  • Ability to write detailed repair reports
  • Ability to analyze and make decisions
  • Ability to diagram equipment control problems
  • Strong verbal and written English communication skills
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Ability to perform each essential duty satisfactory
  • Lift and move heavy equipment
  • Climb ladders and work in high, precarious places

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with 480-volt power and 24 control voltages to 120 volt electrical troubleshooting
  • Program and trouble shoot Allen Bradley SLC500 and MicroLogix series

Responsibilities

  • Perform preventative, predictive, and routine maintenance on high‑bay freezer and warehouse mechanical equipment.
  • Troubleshoot and repair mechanical system failures, including hydraulics, pneumatics, motors, conveyors, and other plant equipment.
  • Ensure maximum equipment efficiency, uptime, and system reliability.
  • Maintain and repair equipment in cold environments (as low as –5°F).
  • Conduct basic electrical repair in an industrial environment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting 480V power systems and 24V–120V control voltages (preferred skill).
  • Work with/diagnose Allen Bradley SLC500 and MicroLogix PLCs (preferred).
  • Diagnose mechanical or control issues by reading technical documents, diagrams, and equipment drawings.
  • Write clear and detailed repair and maintenance reports.
  • Analyze problems and make safe, sound decisions during troubleshooting.
  • Work independently or with plant personnel to solve mechanical and operational issues.
  • Coordinate maintenance activities across warehouse and plant areas to optimize resources such as manpower, equipment, and time.
  • Maintain communication with supervisors, team leaders, and other departments.
