The Pharmacist is responsible for the development and implementation of treatment guidelines in addition to operating a Highland Health Providers’ retail pharmacy. The position would require daily, quarterly and annual duties. The daily duties would include, but not limited to assisting primary care providers in assessing patient charts for the correct medication orders taking into account patients overall condition including renal, hepatic, cardiac function and lab work; overseeing and implementing pharmacy business activities; and providing direct education to patients on medications. The Pharmacist will be responsible for the actual management and operation of the pharmacy. The Pharmacist will hold the knowledge, skills and abilities to ensure patient safety is protected in the management and operation on a pharmacy. The position will also assist with financial management, patient recruitment and retention, quality outcomes, relationships with external stakeholders and vendors, and compliance with legal and regulatory requirements for pharmacy operations as well as the 340B program. This position will expected to engage in continuous improvement and innovation activities and collaborative efforts on revenue generation strategies with the Executive Director, Chief Financial Officer, Director of Quality and Clinic Manager. The Pharmacist would be available for provider consults, drug information and education within the various community health center locations. The Pharmacist would be required to educate HHP staff and providers on new products and policies within the community health center. The Pharmacist maintains a working knowledge of all aspects of the organization’s 340B program including extensive operational experience with third-party vendor 340B management systems. On an annual basis, the Pharmacist would be responsible for producing the annual antibiogram, researching the most cost effective therapeutic substitutions developing new protocols to increase patient safety and expand our patient care. Additional duties include preparing quality assurance reports for review by the organization’s 340B Program oversight committee. The Pharmacist would also participate in general staffing for the pharmacy and attend QAQI, P&T and other committee meetings when needed.
