About The Position

Haven Home Care is hiring caregivers across 14 cities in Summit County to help people in their homes with daily life activities such as bathing, dressing, meal preparation, light cleaning, running errands, and providing companionship. Most clients are older adults who need assistance to maintain their independence. This role involves physical work, including helping clients move around, and requires being on your feet most of the day. The position does not involve administering medication or performing medical tasks, which are reserved for nurses. Caregivers typically work with 2-4 regular clients, fostering strong relationships. The company covers 14 cities in Summit County: Akron, Barberton, Copley, Cuyahoga Falls, Hartville, Hudson, Kent, New Franklin, Norton, Rootstown, Silver Lake, Stow, Tallmadge, and Uniontown. Client assignments are based on travel distance preferences, not just city names, with a 30-minute travel range considered. Caregivers have the flexibility to set their own limits regarding pets, smoking, travel distance, and availability, which influences the speed of client assignment. Initial shifts may be fill-in shifts for the first two weeks to test reliability, after which permanent clients are assigned. Additional hours can be picked up through fill-in shifts, and limits can be adjusted later.

Requirements

  • Driver's license
  • Own car with insurance that covers work driving
  • Pass background checks
  • Work at least 20 hours/week
  • Available between 6AM-8PM
  • Legal right to work in the US
  • Must be at least 18 years old
  • STNA license (active or expired)
  • HHA certificate (30+ hours, signed by RN unless completed online)
  • 1+ year of experience working under a licensed nurse (RN or LPN) at one company (in settings like nursing homes, hospitals, skilled home health agencies, or assisted living with licensed nurses on staff).
  • Pass a competency test (written and skills demonstration) with at least 80% on both, unless already passed at another company with 80% or higher, or hold an STNA license.

Responsibilities

  • Help clients with daily life activities such as baths and getting dressed.
  • Prepare meals for clients.
