About The Position

Wright Tree Service of Canada is seeking an Herbicide Applicator to join their team. This role involves contacting property owners and public agencies regarding vegetation management, applying herbicides to control vines and brush in utility rights-of-way, and maintaining organized spray records. The position also includes conducting tree and brush inventories, hazard tree inspections, planning work for contractors, and managing data. A key aspect of this role is ensuring the safety of employees and the public by enforcing on-the-job safety practices and managing hazards in and around the work area. The applicator will be responsible for carrying and utilizing materials, tools, and equipment, as well as maintaining service trucks and equipment.

Requirements

  • Valid state Herbicide Applicator License, or ability to obtain within three months of hire date
  • Ability to frequently lift up to forty (40) pounds and maneuver various terrain with spray equipment
  • Species identification skills and invasive species knowledge, plus knowledge of tree growth rates
  • Ability to obtain ISA Arborist Certification within 12 months upon job offer
  • Valid driver’s license with clean driving record
  • Ability to work independently
  • Strong verbal and written communications skills
  • Excellent customer service skills a priority
  • Ability to travel and work in rugged terrain and inclement weather
  • Proficient in map navigation skills
  • Experience with Microsoft Office and data collection software (GIS experience a plus)

Nice To Haves

  • Degree in Forestry, Natural Resources, Environmental Science or related environmental field
  • Experience in utility line clearance

Responsibilities

  • Contact property owners & public agencies regarding pruning, removals, and/or herbicide work
  • Apply herbicide to manage vines and brush within utility rights-of-way

  • Service trucks and equipment, keep trucks and other assigned equipment in a neat and orderly fashion
  • Perform other related duties as required or assigned
