About The Position

Sentara Gastroenterology Specialists, a division of Sentara Health, is seeking a BC/BE Gastroenterologist with a primary focus in Hepatology to join the team at Sentara Norfolk General Hospital, in Norfolk, Virginia. Transplant Hepatology certification is not required, but highly desired. This dedicated Hepatologist role aims to create a regional model for comprehensive liver care based out of the tertiary Level 1 teaching hospital at Sentara Norfolk General. Additional opportunities within this role include clinical research, inpatient care, and teaching with the medical school at Old Dominion University. The Sentara Gastroenterology Clinic, established in 2025, is the only Sentara facility of its kind in Hampton Roads, offering a cutting-edge, state-of-the-art environment with advanced diagnostic tools and an endoscopy suite. Responsibilities

  • Creation of outpatient Hepatology clinic and clinical research program in Hepatology
  • Inpatient GI service staffed by General GI but opportunities for rounding on liver patients
  • Teaching with the medical school at Old Dominion University
