The HEP INSTRUCTOR (Employment & Training) is responsible for administering education content, information, guidance, and preparation for the GED examination. This role involves preparing materials and classrooms for class activities, establishing and enforcing rules and procedures for student behavior, and assigning and grading class work and homework. The instructor will observe students to determine their qualifications, limitations, abilities, interests, and other characteristics, and document their academic skills and development. Additionally, the instructor will develop class schedules based on student needs, conduct academic assessments, and develop Individualized Education Programs (IEPs) for each student. This position also involves coordinating with the HEP Project Coordinator and staff for GED testing appointments, co-facilitating new student orientations, and ensuring compliance with all grant requirements, goals, and objectives. The instructor will assess new students according to CC Idaho standards, submit program reports in a timely manner, and supervise the HEP Instructional Assistant. Attendance at staff meetings, committee service, and professional development opportunities are also required. The role includes incorporating audio-visual equipment during instruction and advising students for further education by encouraging exploration of learning opportunities such as college courses, internships, prospective employers, job placement services, or military service. Referrals to ESL classes and remedial programs are also part of the responsibilities.
