About The Position

This is an ongoing coverage need for a Hematology/Oncology Nurse Practitioner (NP) or Physician Assistant (PA). The role involves inpatient coverage, seeing an average of 8-12 patients per day. The practice includes 2 Physicians and 2 APPs. The schedule is Monday, Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday, with 4 10-hour shifts. No weekends or call are required. The patient population includes adults and geriatrics. The EMR system used is EPIC. Credentialing typically takes 30-60 days. The position requires the candidate to be willing to await licensure and possess board certification and AHA BLS certification. A minimum of 1 year of Hematology/Oncology experience or equivalent is required.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1-year Hematology/Oncology experience or equivalent
  • Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) degree focused on an NP specialty (e.g., family practice, adult-gerontology, pediatrics) or Master of Science in Physician Assistant Studies (MPAS) degree from an accredited program
  • National certification as an NP in a relevant specialty area by a recognized certifying body (e.g., American Academy of Nurse Practitioners [AANP]) or National certification from the National Commission on Certification of Physician Assistants (NCCPA)
  • At least one year of experience in a clinical setting relevant to their specialty

Responsibilities

  • Conduct comprehensive patient assessments to diagnose and treat a variety of medical conditions
  • Develop and implement individualized treatment plans
  • Order and interpret diagnostic tests
  • Prescribe medications and manage chronic conditions
  • Provide patient education and counseling on healthy lifestyle choices
  • Perform procedures as permitted by state regulations and APP specialty
  • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare providers to ensure coordinated care
  • Document patient care accurately and thoroughly
