About The Position

As a Hematology Laboratory Technician at IDEXX, you will perform laboratory testing that aids veterinarians in diagnosing and treating pets. Requirements

  • Experience examining clinical blood samples on a Sysmex or CellaVision analyzer.
  • Experience performing manual differentials.
  • High School diploma or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Ability to meet physical requirements: standing and sitting for extended periods, phone & computer use, extended reach, lifting up to 50lb, and specific vision ability (close, color, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus).
  • Potential exposure to biohazards, agents known to cause zoonotic diseases, and hazardous chemicals.
  • Must be authorized to work for any employer in the U.S.
  • Reliable and dependable attendance is essential.

Nice To Haves

  • A 2-, 3-, or 4-year degree in a Science-related field is preferred.
  • Experience as a Veterinary Technician (RVT, LVT, CVT) or Medical Laboratory Technician (MLT or MT).
  • Experience setting up, running, and reading lab tests.
  • Experience operating laboratory equipment (microscopes, pipetting and/or clinical diagnostic analyzers).
  • Positive attitude and energy to support colleagues.
  • Team-oriented.
  • Detail-oriented, reliable, and precise.
  • Great sense of team spirit and responsibility.

Responsibilities

  • Use automated analyzers, microscopes, and other laboratory diagnostic tools to perform analyses and tests that diagnose animal illnesses, injuries, and diseases in support of veterinarian animal treatment.
  • Perform diagnostic tests on blood, urine, fecal, or pet biopsy samples received daily.
  • Set up and run lab tests, then read and release results according to Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs).
