About The Position
We are seeking a compassionate and experienced helper to support a male client in his 80s with dementia, living independently in a senior living apartment. He is extremely hard of hearing and requires attentive supervision, communication support, and gentle redirection. Recently, the client has displayed inappropriate social behavior, likely related to his condition, so a calm and experienced caregiver is needed to help manage and redirect interactions appropriately. This role is best suited for a helper who can provide structured supervision, respectful redirection, and consistent support, while maintaining the client’s dignity and safety in a semi-independent living environment.
Requirements
- Experience with dementia care is strongly preferred
- Comfortable managing behavioral changes and redirection
- Able to communicate effectively with someone hard of hearing
- Patient, calm, and observant
- Strong interpersonal and problem-solving skills
Responsibilities
- Provide supervision and companionship
- Gently redirect inappropriate behaviors and interactions
- Assist with medication reminders (2 prescriptions, 2 supplements)
- Encourage and assist with regular hygiene/bathing
- Support communication due to hearing impairment
- Monitor overall safety and well-being
