About The Position

WinnCompanies is hiring a Helper C for Caroline Hedger Apartments, a 450-unit affordable senior housing property in Chicago, Illinois. The role performs cleaning functions in residents’ homes and common areas, as well as assigned groundskeeping and snow-removal tasks. This is a union position eligible for benefits provided by the union. The selected candidate must complete SEIU Local 1’s 10-week Janitorial Certification Program after joining WinnCompanies. The schedule is Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Pay is $22.82 per hour.

Requirements

Less than one year of relevant work experience.
Ability to understand spoken and written English.
Ability to respond to requests in a timely and respectful manner.
Ability to carry and maintain the cleaning supplies needed for routine functions.
Excellent customer service skills.
Complete the SEIU Local 1 10-week Janitorial Certification Program upon starting with WinnCompanies.

Nice To Haves

High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Prior cleaning experience.

Responsibilities

Clean the building, including bathrooms, the community room, windows, walls, floors, stairwells, laundry rooms, elevators, and carpets.
Empty trash cans and sweep sidewalks.
Set up hoses, rake lawns and flower beds, plant flowers, and install mulch.
Perform each cleaning function according to the property’s prescribed daily schedule.
Remove snow and ice from walkways, parking lots, and driveways as needed.
Clean vacant units.
Perform other cleaning functions as assigned by the Supervisor.
