About The Position

This class is the first level in the Information Technology series. Incumbents provide basic IT assistance to students, faculty, and staff. Responsibilities may include assisting students and faculty with computer issues and providing basic instruction; performing basic hardware support; assisting faculty, students, and staff with accessing and using computer applications.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent (G.E.D.); or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Knowledge of program policies, procedures and requirements
  • Knowledge of agency operations, services programs and organization
  • Knowledge of customer service principles
  • Knowledge of modern office technology
  • Knowledge of specialized equipment relevant to area of assignment
  • Knowledge of principles and practices of technical support
  • Knowledge of applicable computers and software
  • Knowledge of applicable Federal, State, and Local laws, rules, and regulations.
  • Skills in operating computers and software
  • Skills in providing customer service
  • Skills in troubleshooting technology issues
  • Skills in maintaining computers and equipment
  • Skills in utilizing communication and interpersonal skills as applied to interaction with coworkers, supervisor, the general public, and others sufficient to exchange or convey information.
  • Employees of Jefferson College must reside in Missouri or Illinois.

Responsibilities

  • Respond to daily calls assisting faculty on utilizing the learning management system.
  • Assist faculty with implementing instructional tools for educational purposes.
  • Assist students with using common learning management system and other software tools.
  • Answer common questions regarding academic calendar and online services.
  • Answer help desk calls from students and employees on the College's online portals and troubleshoot technology issues.
  • Assist in preparing student communications for online courses.
  • Perform IT helpdesk functions; assist with login issues.
  • Create work orders for hardware/network issues using electronic ticketing system.
  • Perform password resets for college department email accounts.
  • Perform other related duties of a comparable level/type as assigned.
