Heavy Wrecker Operator
About The Position
Operate a heavy wrecker for an established, owner-operated towing company that has served the Upper Arkansas Valley for 25 years. The role handles towing and recovery calls across a five-county area, including mountain passes above 10,000 feet. The position is full-time and on-site in Buena Vista, Colorado. Operators are paid hourly for scheduled time, rather than based on the number of tows. Housing is available for operators commuting from outside the area, and cash bonuses are offered for truck crash recoveries. Night callouts occur as needed but are not around the clock; a typical callout might run from 8 PM to 2 AM, followed by time off. Compensation details are to be confirmed.
Requirements
- At least two years of heavy wrecker experience.
- Winter and mountain driving and recovery experience, including chaining up.
- A CDL appropriate for heavy wrecker operation.
Responsibilities
- Operate the company's heavy wrecker on towing and recovery calls.
- Recover stuck and disabled trucks on mountain passes, including in winter conditions.
- Chain up and work safely in snow and ice.
- Tow disabled trucks 100 to 150 miles to repair facilities.
- Respond to night callouts when they come in.
