About The Position

We are hiring a Heavy Vehicle Assembly Technician to support the assembly and fabrication of armored and commercial vehicle platforms in a manufacturing environment. This hands-on role requires experience with heavy mechanical assembly, blueprint reading, vehicle modification, cranes and lifting equipment, ERP/MRP systems, and military or commercial vehicle manufacturing while maintaining strict quality and safety standards.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or GED required
  • 3–5 years of experience in heavy vehicle, military vehicle, or commercial vehicle assembly.
  • Experience assembling commercial vehicle platforms.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, specifications, work instructions, planning documents, manuals, sketches, and 3D models.
  • Proficiency using mechanical assembly tools including hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, magnetic drills, grinders, and related equipment.
  • Experience installing mechanical components using bolts, screws, rivets, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Knowledge of OEM vehicle components and installation procedures.
  • Experience working within ERP/MRP manufacturing systems.
  • Ability to adapt to engineering changes, rework, and evolving production requirements.
  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • technical school certification or higher education is a plus.
  • Military vehicle assembly or vehicle modification experience.
  • ASE Mechanic certification.
  • Commercial Driver's License (CDL).
  • Forklift certification and operating experience.
  • Overhead crane certification and operating experience.
  • Experience operating basic machine shop equipment.
  • Certified welding experience with steel and aluminum.
  • Surface preparation and industrial spray painting experience.

Responsibilities

  • Assemble heavy vehicle components using cranes, lifting fixtures, and specialized tooling.
  • Install structural components and materials into Body-in-White (BIW) armored vehicle assemblies using bolts, screws, rivets, adhesives, and coatings.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, engineering drawings, work instructions, specifications, and 3D models to complete assembly operations.
  • Fabricate and fit large steel components to ensure proper alignment and vehicle fitment.
  • Perform vehicle tear-down activities, including carefully removing, indexing, and storing OEM body panels, hoods, fenders, and interior components to prevent damage.
  • Utilize hand tools, power tools, torque wrenches, magnetic drills, grinders, and other mechanical equipment during assembly.
  • Operate within ERP/MRP systems to support manufacturing and production processes.
  • Collaborate with production, engineering, supervisors, and materials teams to resolve assembly and process issues.
  • Clean, maintain, and organize equipment, tooling, and work areas.
  • Follow all company safety procedures and manufacturing quality standards.
  • Develop cross-functional knowledge by supporting multiple stages of vehicle assembly and production.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned.
