About The Position

Eagle County Government is looking to fill one position, however, we are willing to consider applicants of all levels. See the descriptions and qualifications for all levels of Heavy Mechanic I and II, below. The hiring ranges are the following: Mechanic I: $30-$35.65 Mechanic II: $32.31-$38.50 Bonus: $1500 Sign-on Bonus. Applicants are encouraged to apply by May 12th, however, this position will be kept open until filled. Heavy Mechanic I: The Heavy Mechanic will service and perform preventive maintenance and minor repairs on County equipment. This is an entry-level position with the possibility of advancement. Heavy Mechanic II: The Heavy Mechanic II will perform preventive maintenance, diagnoses, and repair work on County equipment. This is a journey-level, skilled position with advancement opportunities. Schedule: 4-10's, Tuesday- Friday; 7am-5:30pm

Requirements

  • One year performing routine maintenance on gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles and one year experience in the repair of tires, tubes and wheels; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills, and abilities (Heavy Mechanic I).
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be able to obtain such CDL within six (6) months of employment.
  • Three (3) years on-the job experience as a journey-level mechanic performing routine maintenance on gasoline or diesel-powered vehicles; or, any combination of education and experience which produces the required knowledge, skills and abilities (Heavy Mechanic II).
  • Requires a valid driver’s license and a satisfactory driving record.
  • Must possess a valid Commercial Driver's License (CDL) or be able to obtain such CDL within six (6) months of employment.

Nice To Haves

  • Completion of a technical training program with ASE certifications in Automotive, Medium/Heavy Truck or Transit Bus (Heavy Mechanic II).

Responsibilities
