About The Position
Our client in Sumner is seeking a reliable and safety-focused Heavy Machine Operator to operate equipment that cuts large sheets of metal to precise specifications. This is an early morning shift ideal for candidates who enjoy hands-on work in a fast-paced manufacturing environment. This role requires strong attention to detail, as the operator will also serve as a quality control point—inspecting metal sheets throughout the production process to ensure they meet specifications and quality standards.
Requirements
- Experience operating a forklift required
- Ability to read measurements and use basic measuring tools (tape measure, micrometer, etc.)
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to quality
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced manufacturing environment
- Ability to work within a team and stay productive during early morning hours
- Basic mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting ability
- Reliable attendance and punctuality required
- Ability to stand for extended periods (8+ hours)
- Ability to bend, twist, and work in a manufacturing environment
- Comfortable working around machinery and industrial noise
Nice To Haves
- Previous experience operating heavy machinery or metal cutting equipment preferred
- Knowledge of banding products and processes preferred
Responsibilities
- Operate metal cutting machinery to cut sheet metal accurately
- Read and interpret work orders and measurements
- Load and position metal sheets onto machines safely and efficiently utilizing a forklift
- Load vinyl and plastic vinyl coating materials onto the machine
- Monitor machine performance and make basic adjustments as needed
- Inspect finished products to ensure quality and accuracy standards are met
- Perform quality control checks by inspecting metal sheets as they move through the production process
- Unload front and tail pieces of scrap material from the machine
- Perform routine maintenance and keep equipment clean and operational
- Follow all safety procedures, PPE requirements, and company policies
- Maintain a clean and organized work area
