About The Position

This position works on Goodwin Brothers’ equipment and vehicles handling preventive maintenance, performing diagnostics, and making repairs. This is a solo position in the Kansas City area so the ability to work independently is a requirement. The ideal candidate will have crane experience. Work is done on heavy construction equipment and on-highway trucks. The work needs to be performed in the safest, most effective way possible to avoid downtime. This position involves physical labor like lifting and moving equipment, handling parts for heavy machinery, and using various types of equipment. This is a union position that requires being in the Kansas City 101 Operator Union or be willing to join. This position will work out of the Blue River Waste Water Plant at 7300 Hawthorne Road in Kansas City, Missouri.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent required
  • Currently hold a valid CDL license (Class A or B) or the ability to obtain CDL within 60 days
  • Must have previous experience as a mechanic or technician, with a focus on heavy equipment, or related field that showcases skills with mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical systems
  • Member of or willing to join 101 Operators Union

Nice To Haves

  • Trade school or related training desired
  • Experience repairing and maintaining cranes is highly desired

Responsibilities

  • Ensures a safe work environment in compliance with all safety policies and procedures using the appropriate tools and equipment for the task
  • Performs diagnostic tasks to properly source parts and accurately repair heavy equipment and vehicles, including but not limited to diesel trucks, trailers, excavators, dozers, cranes, loaders, backhoes, skid steers, etc.
  • Cleans, lubricates, and performs preventative maintenance work on equipment and vehicles
  • Dismantles and reassembles heavy equipment using hoists and hand tools, as needed
  • Operates and inspects machines or heavy equipment to diagnose defects
  • Overhauls and tests machines or equipment to ensure operating efficiency
  • Examine parts for damage or excessive wear, repairing and replacing damaged or worn parts
  • Troubleshoots and rewires electrical systems
  • Tests mechanical products and equipment after repair or assembly to ensure proper performance and compliance with manufacturer’s specifications
  • Completes all paperwork as necessary, including but not limited to work orders, parts requests, timecards, logs, pre-trip/post-trip inspections, etc.
  • May make service calls and roadside repairs as needed
