About The Position

The Heavy Labor Line Worker is an employee in the production department, responsible for performing manual heavy labor to process food with the highest standards of food quality. This role is a member of the production team and requires the employee to notify management of any issues regarding food safety and general safety awareness. Positions within this role include Mixing Belt Operator, Palletizer, and Mixing Belt Forklift.

  • Ability to wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield, gloves, slip-resistant shoes, wet/rain suit, apron, etc.
  • Awareness of surroundings due to forklift traffic.
  • Ability to be certified by Classic Salads to drive a forklift if authorized by management.
  • Ability to complete a daily forklift inspection report with previous management authorization.
  • Ability to retrieve product from raw room using FIFO (first in first out) with previous management authorization.
  • Physical ability to constantly walk, stand, bend neck, bend waist, squat, climb, twist neck, twist waist, use both hands (simple grasping, power grasping, fine manipulation, pushing and pulling, reaching below and above shoulder level) for 8 or more hours.
  • Physical ability to daily lift and carry 2 oz - 25 lbs up to 7 feet high and 20 feet in distance for 8 or more hours.
  • Physical ability to occasionally team lift and carry 50-75 lbs garbage cans 20 feet.
  • Physical ability to continuously fold boxes 1 lb to 3 lbs.
  • Physical ability to continuously lift bags 2 oz to 4 Lbs.
  • Physical ability to continuously stack and lift boxes 3 Lbs to 4 Lbs 5-6 boxes high.
  • Physical ability to continuously lift finished product boxes 3 lbs to 15 lbs.
  • Physical ability to continuously stack and lift raw and finished product containers/boxes 10-50 lbs.
  • Physical ability to continuously lift empty pallets 45-85 Lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • High school diploma or equivalent is preferred.
  • Experience of work in a similar environment preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all Classic Salads Food Safety and GMP Policies, including Basic Policies (TRN-0101, TRN-102, TRN-103. TRN-104. TRN-105. TRN-1061).
  • Complete Classic Salads Standard Production Procedures.
  • Use proper lifting and folding boxes techniques.
  • Report all deficiencies to management.
  • Work overtime and weekends and holidays if necessary.
  • Move product and/or materials manually as required.
  • Report all injuries and incidents big or small.
  • Demonstrate attention to detail.
  • Report any foreign objects while performing duties to immediate supervisor.
  • Communicate with management and/or other employees.
  • Be conscious to reduce material spoilage.
  • Able to work in a cold wet environment 34-36 °F.
  • Work/cross-train in other areas.
  • Fold boxes continuously 1 lb to 3 lbs.
  • Lift bags continuously 2 oz to 4 Lbs.
  • Stack and lift boxes continuously 3 Lbs to 4 Lbs 5-6 boxes high.
  • Keep work area clean.
  • Rotate through all positions in the packing line.
  • Lift finished product boxes continuously 3 lbs to 15 lbs.
  • Stay in assigned work area.
  • Ability to operate a manual pallet jack.
  • Stack and Lift raw and finished product containers/boxes 10-50 lbs continuously.
  • Team lift garbage cans 10-70 lbs occasionally.
  • Lift empty pallets 45-85 Lbs continuously.
  • Sort and stack empty totes by color and size.
  • Wrap and palletize finished product.
  • Mark cartons and label according to instructions.
  • Communicate with data entry employees and machine operators.
  • Follow directions regarding product mixes and recipes.
  • Wear required Personal Protective Equipment (PPE): bump cap, hearing protection, hair net, beard net, eye protection (goggles), face shield, gloves, slip-resistant shoes, wet/rain suit, apron, etc.
  • Be aware of surroundings due to forklift traffic.
  • If employee is authorized to drive a forklift by management, employee has to be certified by Classic Salads.
  • With previous management authorization employee has to complete a daily forklift inspection report.
  • With previous management authorization retrieve product from raw room using FIFO (first in first out) to keep appropriate product rotation.
