About The Position

Under ongoing supervision, this role involves loading and unloading pipe, raw materials, coils, and other materials required by the facility. The operator will safely and efficiently load and unload materials and equipment onto vehicles, count and mark all materials, and operate a forklift in a safe manner. Responsibilities also include participating in all inventories, conducting STOP audits, ensuring SOX and Project Stock procedures are performed correctly, and following ISO procedures. Other duties may be assigned by the Mill Supervisor.

Requirements

  • Ability to read, analyze and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures or governmental regulations.
  • Ability to write reports, business correspondence and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
  • Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, percentages, area, circumference and volume.
  • Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and deal with several abstract and concrete variables.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and one to two years related experience and/or training: or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Regularly required to talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle or feel; and reach with hands and arms.
  • Occasionally required to sit, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl.
  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
  • Specific vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
  • Heavy work: Exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and /or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects.
  • Required to have visual acuity to operate motor vehicles or heavy equipment.
  • Required to have close vision (clear vision at 20 inches or less).
  • Required to have distance vision (clear vision at 20 feet or more).
  • Required to have color vision (ability to identify and distinguish colors).
  • Required to have peripheral vision (ability to observe an area that can be seen up and down or to the left and right while eyes are fixed on given point).
  • Required to have depth perception (three dimensional vision, ability to judge distances and spatial relationships).
  • Required to have the ability to adjust visual focus (ability to adjust the eye to bring an object into sharp focus).
