About The Position

This role involves leading day shift welders in the heavy fabrication bay by example and ensuring the success of all employees. The position requires a self-motivated individual able to act without instruction, multitask, and provide timely feedback. A sense of urgency is expected in completing daily tasks, along with maintaining a positive attitude towards Zeeco and management. The lead will utilize shop environment improvement tools such as Near Miss reporting, Observation reporting, and Core Value Awards, and promote good housekeeping. Communication of area issues or improvements to the supervisor is essential, along with performing any other requested Zeeco work-related tasks. The role also emphasizes the importance of Zeeco being a for-profit company.

Requirements

  • Possess technical and welding knowledge.
  • Possess interpersonal skills to effectively interact with personnel inside the Company.
  • Able to work under stress and handle multiple priorities and duties.
  • Have the ability to perform mathematical calculations related to job requirements.
  • Able to maintain and process job-related paperwork effectively.
  • Interpret blueprints as well as Zeeco's inspection test plans.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to act without instruction.
  • Ability to multi-task and give feedback in a timely manner.
  • Able to go up and down stairs.
  • Must not present a risk of injury to self or others while engaged in Company duties.
  • Must be able to work overtime as required.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous heavy fab experience preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Hold "tool box" talks during each shift.
  • Monitor area capacity / load on a daily basis.
  • Monitor quality of product.
  • Submit X-Ray checklists upon completion of weld joint.
  • Prepare and oversee the repair checklist and procedure when required.
  • Review and monitor job specific ITP's.
  • Advise of hold points and X-Ray needs.
  • Review released drawings to identify any issues or concerns before starting fabrication.
  • Ensure employees have the drawings and information needed.
  • Ensure Safety is a focus for all employees at all times.
  • Assign work to employees, and monitor to ensure they stay on task.
  • Provide tools, materials, guidance, instruction, and training as needed.
  • Treat all employees fairly and with respect.
  • Ensure that employees work under the guidelines of their job description.
  • Ensure all employees perform job function in accordance to Zeeco Quality Standards.
  • Ensure all employees respect company tools, equipment, product, and culture.
  • Resolve issues as they arise and inform Supervisor when necessary.
  • Eliminate waste of consumables when possible (gloves, safety glasses, welding supplies).
  • Report all near misses as required by HSE.
  • Monitor time charged to jobs for accuracy and correct coding.
  • Report any absences or tardiness for each shift.
  • Complete daily task with a sense of urgency.
  • Maintain and project a positive attitude towards Zeeco and management.
  • Utilize tools currently in place to better the shop environment such as: Near Miss reporting, Observation reporting, Core Value Awards.
  • Promote good housekeeping in your area.
  • Communicate any and all area issues or improvements to supervisor.
  • Perform any other Zeeco work related task you are asked to perform.
